The problem
Bulk recall overwhelms working context and treats recency as relevance. Agents need to know what governs this place now, where deeper evidence lives, and whether a remembered claim survived the changes that followed it.
What exists now
Home, Project, and Artifact Totem patterns; memory metadata schemas; progressive-loading rules; epoch briefs and recovery receipts; contextual retrieval experiments; and a Qdrant pilot for shared Totem and evidence discovery.

Memory metadata records scope, authority, freshness, provenance, permitted roles, canonical paths, and supersession without replacing the underlying artifact.
